Here are just a few of the 40000 memories we have manged to save through the campaign.
We placed our lock in memory of our baby daughter who left us aged 11 months. Trips to Bakewell with her are a such a special memory. We are so grateful that a home has been found.

We visited this week with our youngest 2 to add a lock to our original, we got married in 2021 and I bought my hubby a padlock as a wedding gift, I have been unwell since and we have never had the chance to come and place it on our original lock. This week after hearing the locks had been saved we came and added our padlock to the original and tied a big yellow ribbon around them in hopes it will mean we can find them again when they reach their new home. Thank you for all your hard work in saving the locks, they mean so much to so many of us xx

I was with James for nearly 8 and half years after nearly giving up on meeting that special someone. He was diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer in July last year and we married 27th September 2023 in Weston-Super-Mare register office with a small gathering of family, that’s where he was from but he'd lived in Ashbourne for many years. We all went out for a meal afterwards and there I gave him his lock with these words inscribed upon it ;
"James & Sara locked in love forever 27/9/23".
We travelled a few days later to London for our honeymoon. When we returned to Derbyshire the next day we went to Bakewell bridge to put the lock on. James found it hard and very emotional as he knew I would be going back one day on my own. He passed away on the 27th December 2023, aged 52, We were married 3 months to the day.
It means a lot to be able to go somewhere where the locks are displayed, I know that the bridge may need work doing on it but it's not for the council to remove them and melt them down.
I'm from Derbyshire and lived in Bakewell for many years, my step dad was born and bred there and my mum is still there. I'm now in Cromford.
